She bought to match her dress
waiting for a date so it hangs in her
closet when he calls she decides
to wear jeans leaves heels
for date number two but he’s
kind of doggish so there
won’t be a second when
he walks her home opens
his mouth asks her to climb
inside she refuses is glad
she didn’t wear her new red heels
matching toenail polish dress
with blue and red cherries
he might have tried to pluck
one off she thinks my what
big eyes you have he tells her
the better to watch you leave
she says he laughs wants to
eat her goodie basket she declines
he calls every day for two weeks
she doesn’t answer the phone.
