Dante's Heart
Hospital Ghost People
Stephanie Fischetti
There were ghost people in the psych ward carrying luggage, oblivious to me.
Oblivious and in a hurry they walked briskly to destinations unknown. And no, it
was not visiting hours and the patients, save me, were all hiding in their rooms, for
the ghost people were visible, every detail, and in full color, and one even smiled
and waved. And I asked them "Where are you going and why do you have
luggage?" but none of them heard except the woman with the short dark hair, dark
skin, plaid shirt, trousers and yellow jacket with the dark rectangular luggage she
pulled down the corridor by its handle, with the American Express badge pinned
to her lapel. She was the one who turning, smiled and waved.
