Since writing this feature, we have learned that the fungus that proves death
to so many amphibians is now spreading at an alarming rate through the
Western United States. You can read more about the invasion of the
North American ecosystem here in a very well-written Seattle Times
article, which quotes one biologist as describing the fungal disease
chytridiomycosis as "Ebola for frogs."
